What did the error message say?
Did you change your login information for another Google product (such as Gmail, AdSense, or iGoogle)?
Did you delete your Google account?
Do you have another AdWords account with the same login?
Do you have an AdSense account with the same login?
Double check the login email and password you've entered, or request help.
First, make sure you're typing in the correct email address and password. Note that the password field is case sensitive, so check to see if you are using the correct capitalization. Also make sure that the 'Caps Lock' key is not on.
If you still can't sign in, here's how to receive a new password:
- Visit the password-assistance page.
- Enter your login email address and click Submit.
- Type the letters from the distorted picture into the appropriate field. Click Submit.
- Follow the instructions to reset your password.
Check if your email address is connected to a Google Account.
Your username is the full email address used to create your account (e.g., myname@example.com). Unless you have a Gmail address, please be sure to enter the entire address including the part after the '@' sign.
If you're not sure what email address you used to create your Google Account, visit the Google Accounts assistance page at https://www.google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd. Enter an email address you use often and complete the steps. If we recognize that your email address is tied to a Google Account, we'll send you an email with a link to reset the Google Account's password. Once you reset your password, use that email address and password to sign in to your AdWords account.
Note that unless you added an alternate email address to your account, we won't be able to email you your account username. If you don't have a secondary email address, or if you no longer have access to that account, please try the 'Forgot your password?' link again after five days. At that point, you'll be able to reset your password by answering the security question you provided when you created your account.
If you can't access your account, please send us some account information.
To help us confirm that you are the owner of this account, we'll need some details about your account such as your latest payment information. Please
complete this form and we'll then be able to help you regain access to your AdWords account.
In that form, we'll ask for certain details of your account to protect your security and to ensure that no unauthorized person gains access to your account.
Make sure you complete all the steps listed in the email.
Before you can sign in to your AdWords account, you'll have to verify your email address via a link in an email we send to you.
Google previously sent a verification message to the email address you used to create your AdWords account. In that email, there is a link that you need to click in order to verify your email address.
Please make sure you click the link and successfully verify your email. If the link doesn't work, copy and paste the link directly into the address bar of your internet browser. This will take you to a webpage with an email verification message and a link to the Google AdWords login page.
This step is included for your own security so that another person cannot create an account using your email address.
We can resend the email if you did not receive it.
Before you can sign in to your AdWords account, you'll have to verify your email address via a link in an email we send to you.
Google previously sent you a verification message to the email address you used to create your AdWords account. If you did not receive this email or have misplaced it, here's how to have this message resent to you:
- Go to https://adwords.google.com and enter the email and password you chose when creating your account.
- When you see an alert message appear, click the link requesting a verification email to be sent to you.
- Check your email for our message. If you do not receive the email, please check to see if it was blocked by your filters or placed in your spam or bulk mail folders. You should also consider adding adwords-noreply@google.com to your address book or your filter's whitelist to help ensure you receive our emails.
- In the email you receive, click the link provided to verify your email address. If the link does not work, copy and paste the link directly into the address bar of your internet browser.
- That link will take you to a webpage confirming that your email address has been verified.
You'll now be able to sign in to your account!
If you still don't receive the email from us, you may have provided the wrong email address when creating your AdWords account. You can change the email address by editing your Google Account login information. Learn how
Another account is using the login email address you've entered.
If you're getting this message when you try to create an AdWords account, it's likely that you've already created a Google Account using that email address. A Google Account is a single login that you can use for multiple Google products such as Gmail, iGoogle Personalized Homepage, and AdWords.
You have a few options for how to resolve this issue and finish creating your AdWords account:
- Use the desired email address for your AdWords account. When you're creating your AdWords account, you'll get to the step titled 'Set Up Account.'
- Make sure you select 'I have an email address and password I already use with Google services' and click 'Continue.'
- Select 'I'd like to use my existing Google account for AdWords.' Click 'Continue.'
- Enter your Google Account email and password in the appropriate fields.
(If you don't know your password, try signing in to the Google Accounts page at https://www.google.com/accounts. When you get an error message, click the 'forgot password' link, then follow the steps. We'll send you an email to create your new password.)
- Use another email address that you don't use for any other Google product. When you're creating your AdWords account, choose 'I only sign in to AdWords' in the account creation wizard. Doing this will create a new Google Account login that you can use to create an AdWords account. Note that it has to be a real address that you have access to.
- Make the desired email address available. If you own the email address and have access to it, you can delete the address from any Google Account currently using it. To do this, you'll have to access the Google Account using that address and then change the email associated with that account. (Note that you won't be able to do this if the email you want to change is a Gmail address.)
- Visit the Google Accounts homepage at http://www.google.com/accounts.
- Enter your username email and password, and click Sign in.
- Click the Change email link under 'Personal information.' (If you're using a Gmail address, this link won't appear, so please choose one of the other options above.)
- Enter your new email address and your current password.
- Click the Save email address button to save the changes.
You'll then be able add the email address you used when trying to create an AdWords account.
If you don't know the password for that Google Account:
Visit the password-assistance page and enter your username (your full email address). Follow the steps to reset your password. After you've regained access to this Google Account, you can change the email address on the account to another valid email address.
If you did not create that Google Account:
Someone may have accidentally entered your email address when creating a Google Account, but hasn't been able to verify email ownership. Since you own this email address, you can access the associated Google Account and remove your email from it. Follow the steps above to recover the password an access the account.
Double check the login email and password you've entered.
If you're receiving this message when you try to sign in, please make sure that you have typed in the correct email address and password:
- Email: Make sure you enter your full email address with no extra spaces.
- Password: This field is case sensitive, so check to see if you are using the correct capitalization. Also make sure that the 'Caps Lock' key is not on.
If you still receive this message, please follow these instructions to receive a new password:
- Visit the password-assistance page.
- Enter your login email address and click Submit.
- Type the letters from the distorted picture into the appropriate field. Click Submit.
- Follow the instructions to reset your password.

A technical issue is preventing you from signing in.
If you are having trouble accessing your AdWords account, this difficulty is normally the result of an issue with your browser or local connection.
Try one or more of the potential solutions listed below to regain access to your account:
- Clear your cache and delete your cookies. Learn how for PC or Mac.
- Make sure you have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Learn how to update your internet browser version or change your browser settings.
- Check your SSL security settings (SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, & TLS 1.0 must be selected). Learn how for PC or Mac.
- Enter your Google domain (i.e., google.com, google.at, google.fr, etc.) as a trusted site. Learn how for PC or Mac.
- Switch off Internet Security programs such as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, Black Ice, Kerio Personal Firewall, or Webwasher.
- Use a different Google domain (such as adwords.google.co.uk, adwords.google.fr, adwords.google.de, or adwords.google.es).
- Try signing in to your account from this page.
- Try using a different browser such as Opera or Firebird. Always use the most current version.
- Access your account from a different PC or network. If this is successful, the problem is probably caused by a configuration problem in your browser, operating system or your network. Please check with your respective vendor, provider, or customer support.
The issue is caused by your internet browser settings.
If you see a message of nonsense symbols when trying to sign in, it's probably because the characters aren't appearing properly in your browser for your selected language. This usually indicates that your browser is not using a Unicode character set.
To fix this issue, try changing your current browser settings to Unicode UTF-8 by following these instructions:
For Internet Explorer:
- Navigate to the webpage that you are having trouble viewing.
- Right-click somewhere on the page.
- In the 'Encoding' menu, select 'Unicode (UTF-8).'
For Firefox:
- Select 'View' from the top of your browser window.
- Select 'Character Encoding.'
- Select 'Unicode (UTF-8)' from the dropdown menu.
You may need to close and restart all active browser windows before this change takes effect. You should then be able to view your language's specific characters on our site.
Note: The instructions above are for the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 7.0 and Firefox 1.5. If you're unable to perform the suggested operation with these instructions, please refer to your browser's help center.
Changing one product's login information may update your AdWords login as well.
If you use the same login and password for multiple Google products (such as AdWords, Gmail, iGoogle Personalized Homepage, etc), changing your login information for one product will change it for them all. This means that if you've recently changed the login information for a Google product that shared your AdWords login, your AdWords details will have been automatically updated as well.
Please visit https://adwords.google.com and try logging in to your AdWords account with your newly changed login.
Know that at any time after you've signed in, you can change the Google Account login information associated with your AdWords account. Learn how
Changing one product's login information may update your AdWords login as well.
If you use Google products -- such as AdWords, Gmail, iGoogle Personalized Homepage, etc -- you'll have a Google Account login that you use to access these products. You can use the same login to access multiple Google products.
If you know your login for a Google product:
To see which products are sharing the same login, visit your Google Account homepage at https://www.google.com/accounts and sign in with an email address you know you use for a Google product. If you see that several products share that Google Account login, know that changing your login information for one product will change it for them all. (Note that some products may not be listed under 'My Products' if you've never signed in to it directly.)
This means that if you've recently changed the login information for a Google product that shared your AdWords login, your AdWords details will have been automatically updated as well. If that is the case, please visit https://adwords.google.com and try logging in to your AdWords account with your newly changed login.
If you don't know your login or aren't sure you have a Google Account:
The best way to tell if you have a Google Account is to visit the Google Accounts assistance page at https://www.google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd. Enter an email address you use often and complete the steps. If we recognize that your email address is tied to a Google Account, we'll send you an email with a link to reset the Google Account's password. Once you reset your password, use that email address and password to sign in to your AdWords account.
If you recently deleted your Google Account, you won't be able to access your AdWords account or any other Google products using that login. Please remember that you can't use AdWords if you don't have a Google Account.
Please contact our team and we'll try to restore your deleted Google Account. Please include your Google Account email address and AdWords customer ID, but never include your password.
Change the login for one of your accounts.
It's possible that you have two AdWords accounts using the same login email and password. This probably happened when you updated one account to a Google Account login; you created a Google Account login using the same AdWords email and password that you also use for your other AdWords account.
You can fix the problem by choosing an alternate login email for one of the two AdWords accounts. If you'd like to keep your recently updated Google Account login the same, choose option I. Otherwise, choose option II. If you recently updated your AdWords login to be a Gmail email address, choose option I.
I. Choose a new login email in your AdWords account
- Sign in to AdWords at https://adwords.google.com using your AdWords email and password. You should automatically be directed to the update wizard.
- Read the introduction, and click 'Continue.'
- Select 'I only sign in to AdWords, or AdWords and AdSense' for the next question. Click 'Continue.'
- Enter an email address and/or password that is different than your other account's email address in the correct fields. Enter the security word, and read and accept the terms of conditions.
- Review your login information, and click Update My Login.
II. Choose a new login email in Google Accounts
- Visit the Google Accounts homepage at http://www.google.com/accounts.
- Enter your current AdWords login email and password, and click Sign in.
- Click the Change email link under 'Personal information.' (If you're using a Gmail address, this link won't appear, so please choose the option above.)
- Enter your new email address and your current password.
- Click the Save email address button to save the changes.
Once you update your information, check your email to verify your email address. Then, you can sign in to this AdWords account using your selected login.
The only way you can have two separate AdWords accounts using the same login is if you had two accounts a few years ago before we started using Google Account logins. When asked to update one account to a Google Account login, you would have updated it to the same email address used for your other account.
If this situation describes you, please contact our team and we'll help investigate the AdWords accounts you have.
When you updated your AdWords login to a Google Account, you most likely chose the same email and password that you currently use for your AdSense account. We recommend that you have different logins for AdWords and AdSense.
To fix this, simply choose a different login for AdWords or AdSense. Try to sign in to your Google Accounts homepage at https://www.google.com/accounts using whichever login email and password you chose when you last updated your information. Click 'Email address,' choose a new email address or password, and click 'Save changes.' This will change the email address for your AdWords account.
See more detailed instructions.
If none of the questions above apply to your current situation, please contact our team. We'll help investigate why you aren't able to sign in to your AdWords account.
In your message, please include your AdWords login email and customer ID, but never include your password. Your customer ID is listed at the bottom of any email previously sent to you from adwords-noreply@google.com.
