Available through Report Center, the Demographic Report provides the demographic composition of the users who saw your ads on participating publisher sites in the Content Network. The data, provided by participating publishers like MySpace.com and Friendster.com, includes age and gender categories for your impressions, conversions, and clicks. Use these reports with our demographic bidding feature to increase your bids for high-value demographic segments or exclude demographic groups with significant traffic and poor value.
Demographic Reports are available as a report type in Report Center for advertisers who have a placement-targeted or contextually targeted campaign.
Here is how to run a Demographic Report (this process is similar for all types of reports):
- Log in to your AdWords account at https://adwords.google.com.
- Click on the Reports tab and then on the Create Report link.
- Under 'Report Type', select the radio button next to Demographic Performance.
- For 'Demographic Categories', select or unselect Age and Gender.
- For 'Level of Detail', select Account, Campaign or Ad Group.
- For 'View', choose Summary (for an overview report), Daily, Day of Week, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly from the pull-down menu.
- Select the 'Date Range' for your report by clicking on the radio button next to the pull-down menu and choosing the time span (i.e. 'Last seven days', ' Last thirty days', etc.). You can also use clickable calendars to choose specific date ranges for Summary, Daily and Weekly views. Select the campaign or campaigns to include in this report by choosing the radio button for All campaigns or Manually select from a list and then clicking Add next to the campaign names in the list provided (these options appear if you chose Campaign or Ad Group in the 'Level of Detail' section). Please note: Data for Demographic Report columns is only available from June 1st 2007 to the present. Adjust your date range accordingly to include this data in your report.
- Within 'Advanced Settings', you can further customize your Demographic Report by clicking on Add or Remove Columns to refine your report based on preferred column topics such as 'Impressions', 'Clicks', 'CTR', 'Avg CPM', etc.
- In addition, in 'Advanced Settings', you can apply filters to restrict the display of report rows based on specific criteria. Click Filter Your Results to customize your filters; up to four filters may be created by clicking on the Add another restriction link.
- Enter a unique Report Name for your report and tick the box to save your settings as a template if you want to use them again in the future.
- For 'Templates, Scheduling and Email', schedule your report (if you want it to run again automatically at another time) and, if you want it delivered via email, provide an email address and choose your preferred report format (.csv, .csv for Excel, .tsv, .xml or .html)
- Click Create Report.
To download your report when it has finished running:
- Log in to your AdWords account.
- Click on the Reports tab.
- Click into the Report Center
- Click on the name of the report that you would like to view.
- Select the format in which you would like to download your report: .csv, .csv (for Excel), .tsv, .xml,.html, or Google Spreadsheet.
