In-line editing lets you edit ads, keywords, placements, and bids right where you see them in your account. Just click the keyword or bid and type your changes.
Suppose an ad group has the keywords 'roses', 'tulips', and 'daffodils', and you want to change the keyword 'tulips' to 'carnations'. On the 'Keywords' tab, click the keyword 'tulips' and make the change right on the tab.
The same kind of editing is available for bids, placements, and ads wherever you find them in your account. Your changes become effective right away.
Note that when you edit keywords, placements, or ads this way, it's the same as deleting the old entry and adding a brand new one. In the example above, the statistics for the new term, 'carnations', will be reset to zero. 'Tulips', the previous keyword, will become a deleted keyword and move to an additional line in the ad group along with its past performance statistics.
This is also true if you use in-line editing to change the match type of a keyword: Statistics for the new match type will start at zero, and the old match type will become a deleted keyword.
