Why should I use broad match for keywords?

Broad match offers the following benefits:

  • Get more clicks and conversions for your ads: Variations of broad-matched keywords account for one-third of all Google search clicks and conversions. Using broad match can help you get additional relevant traffic.

  • Spend less time building keyword lists: Twenty percent of the queries Google receives each day are ones we haven't seen in at least 90 days. This unpredictable search behavior can make it difficult to create a keyword list that covers all possible relevant queries using only exact match. With broad match you don't have to think of every possible variation - our system does the work for you.

  • See global search trend data: Broad match is a 'smart' feature. It constantly analyzes global traffic trends and tries out new variations of your keywords. It retains only the highest-performing new keywords and discards everything else.

  • Spend your money on keywords that work:If your ad receives no clicks on a particular keyword variation, our system will quickly stop showing your ads for that and similar search queries. This feature helps you focus on the keywords that work and costs you nothing, since you won't accrue any click charges. Also, your ads' performance on keyword variations doesn't influence your keywords' Quality Scores, cost-per-clicks (CPCs), and ad positions.
