The Site and Category Exclusion tool allows you to prevent your ads from appearing on individual websites or categories of web pages. Exclusions only apply to the content network unless otherwise noted.
Here's how to use the tool:
- Go directly to the Site and Category Exclusion tool by visiting adwords.google.co.uk/select/ContentExclusionStart
. You might be asked to sign in.
- Choose the campaign whose exclusions you'd like to edit from the Campaign drop-down menu.
- Use the tabs to make exclusions. See detailed instructions for using each tab below.
- When you've finished, click Save all exclusions.
- Repeat steps 5 to 7 for any other campaigns.
- If you'd like to view or remove your exclusions, please see these steps.
The "Sites" Tab
Use this tab to prevent your ads from being displayed on individual web pages. This tab will be selected for you by default.
In the available field, list the URLs of any web pages that you don't want displaying your ads. You may enter top-level domains, first-level subdomains and domains with a single directory name. Learn more about your formatting options.
The "Topics" Tab
Use this tab to prevent your ads from being displayed on groups of web pages in the Google Content Network that could potentially be viewed as sensitive.
1. Review the topics available for exclusion.
2. Familiarise yourself with the following points about topic exclusion:
- Excluding a topic can significantly reduce traffic to your campaign. You can see how much traffic your ads have received on pages in these topics by viewing the table in the Topics tab.
- Our system may identify several topics on a single page. By excluding a topic, you may exclude web pages that contain material that are relevant to your product or service.
- All pages in the Content Network are required to comply with Google's AdSense policies, which prohibit pornography, violence and other potentially inappropriate content. Several levels of automated and manual review are in place to help ensure that the pages in the content network don't violate these policies.
- This tab supports the following languages: Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. Please don't use this tab if your campaign targets an unsupported language.
3. Tick any topics that you'd like to prevent from displaying your ads.
Important note: While web pages are categorised under these topics to the best of our technology's ability, excluding a topic does not guarantee that you have excluded every related web page. If you see that your ad has been displayed on an undesired web page, please exclude that page using the Sites tab.
The 'Page Types' Tab
Use this tab to prevent your ads from being displayed on certain page types.
1. Review the page types available for exclusion.
2. Familiarise yourself with the following points about page type exclusion:
- Excluding a page type can significantly reduce traffic to your campaign. You can see how much traffic your ads have received on pages in these categories by viewing the table on the Page Types tab.
- Our system is optimised to display ads on relevant content pages. By excluding a page type, you may exclude web pages that contain material relevant to your product or service.
- All pages in the content network are required to comply with Google's AdSense policies, which prohibit pornography, violence and other potentially inappropriate content. Several levels of automated and manual review are in place to help ensure that the pages in the content network, even ones with frequently changing content, don't violate these policies.
- The User-generated content section of this tab supports the following languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Please don't make exclusions in this section if your campaign targets an unsupported language. (The Network types section supports all languages.)
3. Tick any page types that you'd like to prevent from displaying your ads.
Important note: While web pages are categorised to the best of our technology's ability, excluding a page type does not guarantee that you have excluded every related web page. If you see that your ad has been displayed on an undesired web page, please exclude that page using the Sites tab.
. You might be asked to sign in.
