Started by then-18-year-old Ritesh Agarwal in 2013, Oyo Rooms has grown into one of India’s largest network of budget hotels, offering a great stay at a low price in more than 100 cities across the country. To quickly make its mark in the industry, Oyo Rooms needed to reach out to a larger audience online. While the company’s app had received more than 40,000 downloads, it had only generated 500 enquiries. Oyo Rooms decided to use Google’s suite of products to help make their app more effective. Google not only helped in the promotion of the app through its vastly popular Play Store, but was also the company’s strategic partner from product inception through to product creation and scale-up. “With our app downloads spiking at over 150,000 and enquiries increasing by 200%, Google’s ability to drive demand is extremely impressive,” says Ritesh. Today, Oyo Rooms now uses AdWords to increase its visibility online, while Google Maps helps customers find their chosen hotel more easily.
