Using your new Billing pages

If you've noticed that the look of your Google Ads Billing pages have changed, it's because you've been upgraded to the latest version. Along with the new look, we've also tweaked some of the wording used to describe your account. With this upgrade:

  • Postpay is now called "automatic payments"
  • Prepay is now called "manual payments"
  • Bank transfer is now called "funds transfer"
  • Direct debit is now called "bank account"

Your new features

You'll have all the same features you have now, and you'll get some new ones that will make payments easier and more flexible. Here's a quick overview of the features:

Automatic payments (previously called postpay)

The automatic payments option works the same way that postpay did, but we've added more functionality that gives you greater control over how and when you're charged. With automatic payments, you can:

  • Better control how much and when you're charged. Make a payment to pay your balance, fund future ad activity, or delay when you reach your threshold and get charged.
  • Add multiple payment methods to your account. Use them to make single payments, or keep them in your account in case you'd like to change your primary or backup payment methods. See how to add a payment method.
  • Use any payment option available to your country and currency. This means that you might have additional payment methods available to you. For example, if we previously accepted funds transfer only for manual payment (prepay) accounts in your country and currency, you can now use funds transfer even when you're on automatic payments. You'll be able to view all available options after you click the Make a payment button.
  • Use different addresses for your business and your payment methods. Your business address will appear on the invoices you generate from your account, while your billing addresses are those associated with each payment method and are used to validate your payment information. Learn more about these address types.

Manual payments (previously called prepay)

The manual payments option works the same way that prepay did. But now, you'll make payments right from your main billing page -- just click the Make a payment button to start. See full instructions on how to make a payment. You can also:

  • Add as many payment methods as you want to your account. Store multiple payment methods in your account and choose which to use for each payment. Or, pick a new payment method. You can remove any and all stored payment methods from your account as well, and your ads will keep running as long as your account has funds. Learn how to add and remove a payment method.
